The Gigabit adapters bring Gigabit network speed to the desktop PC and servers.
On the high-end are the fiber Gigabit PCI Express x4 high-performance adapters
that let businesses take advantage of the PCI Express (PCIe) slots of their servers to
enhance network performance with fiber-optic connectivity. The adapters’ dedicated
input/output (I/O) bandwidth PCIe ensures priority performance without bus sharing
for Gigabit Ethernet connectivity in fiber-optic networks.
For workstations, the copper Gigabit adapters provide an inexpensive alternative
solution to the fiber-optic. Using the existing low-cost Cat. 5 copper twisted-pair
network cable as the transmission media, these adapters allow desktops computers to
instantly upgrade to Gigabit capability without requiring installation of new, expensive
fiber cables.
» 2Gbps data addressing for higher
throughput.
» Ideal for servers, storage and system
area networks (SAN).
» Lower system level power requirements.
» Backward compatible with PCI and
PCI-X addressing, allows all existing
applications and Operating Systems to
function unchanged.
» Hot-swappable, can replace adapter
without turning OFF server.
» Doubles network data transfer rate
to 2Gbps, providing servers with
bottleneck-free paths for server-client
applications.
» Operating in full-duplex mode,
minimizes data packet loss between
server and Gigabit switch
» Allows network administrators to power
ON/OFF computers from remote sites.
» Useful for application in secure network
environments such as in a school or
public library.
» Allows administrators to configure
workstations and servers with Virtual
LAN security or traffic segmentation.
» Allows workstations and servers to run
time-sensitive applications such as voice
and video.
